After years of disputes, unrest, street battles, and scathing newspaper articles, the city of Berlin decided to build a new wall. The expertise was there, after all, and all sides of the conflict agreed that this was the best compromise. Humans and nature had become too different to be able to exist with one another, so nature got its own city, in the middle of the city. Inclusion had not worked; division was the new way. The wall was a masterpiece. Only sometimes, when the longing became too great, did the people of Berlin venture onto the bridges to view nature, even if only from afar.
