The High Line in New York is an example of the repurposing of urban infrastructure and modern landscape architecture. The former elevated railway line was transformed into a public park by Field Operations, Diller Scofidio + Renfro, and Piet Oudolf, extending 2.6 kilometers through Manhattan.

The design of the High Line integrates existing elements of the former railway line with deliberate planting that recalls the natural vegetation that spread after the line was decommissioned. Pathways, seating areas, and viewing points are incorporated into the linear concept and offer diverse usage possibilities.

By connecting historical structures with contemporary landscape architecture, the High Line serves as a model for sustainable urban development and the reactivation of unused spaces in urban areas.

This structural model at a scale of 1:20 was created in the context of the seminar Building Construction III. It is part of the "Icon(s)" model collection of the Chair of Design and Building Construction at UdK Berlin.
